ALLA MANIERA ITALIANA
QUARTET

performing on period instruments

Our string quartet was born out of a shared desire to explore the great chamber repertoire of the 18th and 19th centuries represented in particular by the compositions for string quartet by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, staying true to the vision of their historical origin.
For this reason we play our music with reproductions of the instruments used at the time, playing from original signed scores and first editions of the pieces to the extent possible, giving particular attention to lesser known composers and unpublished or newly rediscovered scores.
The world premier release from Urania Records label of Integrale dei Quartetti, by Francesco Pasquale Ricci, a composer from Como, Italy reflects our commitment to this approach.
The name of our quartet derives from the piece written for keyboard "Aria Variata Alla Maniera Italiana" BWV 989 in A minor by the great composer, Johann Sebastian Bach, in homage to him and to the musical paths which brought us to his work.

For the realisation of our performances in concerts and in recordings, we refer to the fine work of musical and musicological research in the archives of eminent international foundations, such as L'Archivio della Sinfonia Milanese and Il Centro di Ricerche Musicali lvbeethoven.it.

Alla Maniera Italiana Quartet is based in Como, Italy and is a member of the Le Dimore del Quartetto network of musicians.
